Arcade Horror-GW Helmet

Back in my guitar rock tour review I said that I never expected the iphone/itouch to have so many awesome games, well you can imagine how excited I got when I saw some of the game & watch titles on the itunes store.
So you guessed it I bought a few and over the next few months I will be doing some short reviews of these titles from 1upmobile.
The reason why short reviews instead of full length ones is well to be honest there really isn’t much to say about these kind of games.

The rules in helmet are pretty simple, You have to try to get your worker across the building site while avoiding in what appears to be an infinit amount of falling tools.(wow, your co-workers must really hate you.)
You get 5 points for everytime you make it across into the other building and 1 point every few seconds for just surviving in that blizzard of hammers, or as I like to call those “The u cant touch this bonus point”.

There’s three kinds of control set ups, first is the tap buttons mode in which you tap the left side of the screen to go left and the right side to go right.
This option is the best way to play helmet and would feel more natural to play with.

Second we have the tap position settings where you tap where you want to go.
I’ve had some troubles with this one, sometime you tap a spot but you seem to go one step to far so you must be very precise with this option.(on second thought, it may be the size of my fingers :P.)

The third and final control setting is tilt, where (you guessed it) you tilt the ipod to the left or the right to move your guy.
Honestly, the tilt works pretty well but it doesn’t seem like the appropriate game to add tilt to.

Just to point out to all the readers that all the GW games on the iTouch have these three control options, so in future GW reviews I’ll just talk about how they play like with these options.

You can also submit your high score to the 1upmobile website which is good if you want to compare your scores to other players.

The graphics and sound are exactly like the original version back in the 80s, even when you start your game you have all the sprites on screen at once which certainly game me nostalgic pleasure.
The clock is also included in the main menu and is actually in sync with the time you have on your ipod.

You can get this game from the itunes app store for the sweet price of……..NOTHING! That’s right it’s free, so if you liked this one enough to purchase the rest then go for it.

GW helmet isn’t a bad game but its not one of my fave GW titles either. But for the price you pay for it, it’s more than worth it for this pretty cool game.
