Not many
people played Fahrenheit on the original Xbox but those that
did were rewarded with one of the most cinematic games that
ever graced a console. In some places it worked and in others it
fell flat but I still have fond memories of
it.Expect the same
from Heavy Rain which has a very intriguing plot, graphics that
are jaw-dropping and hopefully gameplay that goes beyond QTEs
and clicking on anything that looks interactive. It’s been in production for years
and let’s hope all that extra time makes Heavy Rain a heavy
hitter.
Was meant to
be released at Christmas 2009 but Executive Producer
Guillaume de Fondaumiere reckons that it’s too crowded for a
game like Heavy Rain to stand out and sell well. I agree with
him. Why not wait until a period of the year that has no
quality titles coming out that month? Smart thinking
guys.
Nice
graphics, not so nice framerate. Plenty of time to go
yet.
9.God of War 3 –
PS3
Everyone has played the first two God of War
games and if you were hungry for more there was a PSP
treatment. The first two games were so good
that soon Sony are going to release a collection on the same
disc for the Playstation 3.It might not beat backward compatibility but
us God of War fans will take what we can
get.God of War 3 from all
accounts looks like it’s going to be more of the same but
with the amazing next gen graphics, we’re sure that it’s
going to be as epic and as gorgeous and 1 & 2
were.
8. No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle -
Wii
Sounds more like a bad B-Grade film starring
a B-Grade rapper and star from the 80s doesn’t
it?Suda 51’s brilliant first game on
the Nintendo Wii got plenty of props but probably not as many
sales as was expected.Regardless he is sticking with the Wii and No
More Heroes 2 is looking every bit as stylish, funny and action
packed as the first one.I
love just about every Suda game that has every come out, hell I
liked Killer 7 when everyone else was giving it
shit.No More Heroes 2 is definitely
one to look out for.If you haven’t checked out the first one and
you still have a Wii, I suggest you go and pick up a copy (if
you can still find it on a store shelf that is). Keep an eye
out for the sequel in 2010.
7. Split Second –
Multi-platform
I’m not the biggest racing car gamer out
there but after watching the trailer of Split Second from E3, I
gotta say that if the game is anywhere as cool as the gameplay
I saw, count me in one hundred percent! I’m a fan of Burnout
Paradise, I’m a fan of Need for Speed but all those other more
‘serious’ games bore me quickly.I
want something that has things blowing up around you as you
compete with other cars, I want to see the track dynamically
change in an instant because a Air Traffic Control tower just
collapse across the track as I was driving towards it and I
want it to look decent at the same
time.If you like the sound of
that then chances are you’re going to love split
second.Check out this trailer and
tell me you’re not impressed.
Experience the
awesome.
6. Splinter Cell: Conviction – Xbox
360
It seems that Sam Fisher is one fishy guy to
catch. He’s on the lamb and becoming
more like Jason Bourne every day. This game has been pushed back for years now
and whether or not the wait was worth it has yet to be seen,
although if they recent gameplay videos are anything to go by,
Splinter Cell fans are going to like the latest
one. There has been a few changes to
the look of Sam Fisher (now less emo than previously shown) and
also to how the game plays.I
really can’t wait to play Conviction as it feels like the first
‘next gen’ Splinter Cell game, even though Double Agent
technically was.
5.Dante’s Inferno –
Multi-platform
I’m a sucker for action
games.I love my Devil May Cry, I love
my God of War, pretty much anything involving a dude taking on
hordes of creatures with a sword and some ‘tude. Dante’s
Inferno takes place in Hell and from all the screen shots and
videos it looks like one of the most visceral console games
yet, if that is even possible at this
point.I seriously can’t wait to
see the final code, anything to do with Hell, the devil
and crazy little creatures that erupt from Cleopatra’s
boobs is good enough to warrant my
interest.
4.Bayonetta –
Multi-platform
See Dante’s Inferno on why I’ve included
this game on this list. The only reason it sits a place higher is
that it’s made by the same guy who did the original Devil
May Cry, so you know it’s going to be dripping with
awesome.The main character is still
sexy without the need to show off every single inch of
skin, and it’s good to see female characters are able to
wear more than just a G-string in games these
days. This one is gonna rock, you
have my word on that.
2010
can't come quick
enough!
3. Lost Planet 2 –
Multi-platform
I was hoping that Lost Planet 2 would
come out this year as I really had fun with the first
one.It had a great old school
shooter feel and the enemies were plentiful and grandiose,
it’s always great to see a giant creature take up your
entire screen and let’s not forget how great the explosions
looked.The demo for Lost
Planet 2 has been available on Xbox Live for some
time now and it looks like it will be more of the
same, however there is a big difference in the
locations from the snow and ice from the first
one.Expect to see plenty of jungles and
urban locations.Regardless, just keep them big bugs
coming and a multiplayer that was as good as or
better than the first one. We’ll gladly sign
up.
2. Mass Effect 2 - Multi-platform
I played through the first Mass Effect
several times so needless to say we couldn’t be more
excited about see what is next on the horizon for Shepherd
and company. The first one failed in certain areas
regarding exploration but let’s hope the second part of
this trilogy fixes those things.Something that is refreshingly different
than what a lot of other developers would do with a sequel,
is the fact that Mass Effect 2 will access your game save
from the first one, essentially making the start of the
story a little different depending on your actions and
outcomes from the first game.Everything about this game is looking
positive but whether or not Bioware will improve the
shortcomings of the first one is yet to be seen. But with a
whole galaxy to explore, characters to meet and baddies to
blow away into space dust we’re more than a little excited
to see what has been accomplished in the couple of years
we’ve been waiting.
PS: Alien love is
gooooood.
1 – Bioshock 2 -
Multiplatform
No one really has anything bad to say
about the first Bioshock. In my books it was possibly the finest
example of the amazing heights that videogames can
achieve.It will always
have a fond place in my memories and will remain one of my
favourite games of all time. That’s not the reason why it’s sequel is
number one on the list though, the reason it sits here is
that the original developers aren’t making this sequel,
they actually have very little to do with
it.Whether or not they will
succeed in providing the same atmosphere and thrilling
adventure that the first one achieved
is yet to
be seen but with a multiplayer component, playing as a big
daddy (or mummy in this case) and with such a huge
responsibility dumped on an unproven developer, the relase
of Bioshock 2 is going to be a very thrilling ride one way
or the
other.
We admit that this looks pretty darn good
so far!

I'm sure they will get those games out in 2010 but if blizzard aren't happy
they will push them back and say 'sorry everyone but you know how we roll
yo' .
